ABOUT US

Westway Development is a privately-held real estate investment and development company in business for over 30 years. For the majority of that time, Westway has been a traditional commercial developer focusing on industrial and office properties, including land development. Westway's projects have involved complex land use and environmental issues, and engaged various public and private institutions. In 2007, Westway acquired a vacant shell building in a Washington, D.C. sub-market with the intention of redeveloping and repositioning it to address the needs of government and private entities needing enhanced security and specific security amenities. Westway identified a key niche, and thus began a seven year period during which Westway realized there was a special part of the market that was not being adequately serviced and set about to reinvent itself to opportunistically address this market niche.

Over the course of time, Westway has evolved a business model that includes developing key relationships with government contacts and their associated tenants, building a specific skill set of expertise and procedures specific to high security users’ needs, and assembling a team of key executives with the expertise, security clearances, and contacts vital to addressing this unique market niche. Since declaring its full-commitment to this niche market, Westway has evolved into a focused provider of highly-specialized, turnkey high security real estate solutions for government, government contractors, major corporations, utilities, transportation companies and infrastructure providers. Members of Westway each have over 30 years of experience in their respective fields, with deep backgrounds within the federal government and related contracting communities and the private sector.

Additional Capabilities and Areas of Growth Interest

Westway is pursuing a wide variety of opportunistic investments in the high-security real estate environment across the country, including but not limited to:

  • New construction of office, warehousing, and data centers
  • Retro-fitting/upgrading of pre-existing office, warehouse or data center facilities
  • Adaptive re-use of pre-existing real estate facilities that provide a mix of state-of-the-art amenities
  • End-to-end logistical support to include relocation and move-management services

Westway is exploring a number of potential contracting paths which would allow prospective tenants an alternative means to procure operational space at our unique properties as a managed service offering, avoiding timely delays typically associated with the standard procurement processes for federally-leased space. Westway is also prepared to explore joint-venture or public-private partnership (P3) opportunities should a governmental or private entity demonstrate an interest in exploring the feasibility of such an arrangement. In conjunction with our strategic partner firms, there are no restrictions on the size or scope of a qualified project for which Westway can undertake.
